This painting is especially reminiscent of art of odalisques from the 18th and 19th centuries. It really does suggest an air (or water) of bored, unburdened elegance. Her tentacles are a bit of a shock factor for those expecting legs, and only two at that. The level of detail in the texture of the skin, the folds of the fabric, and the weathering of the wood ship is admirable. The red of the cloth is very striking and catches your attention away from the rest of the nautical theming.

The only thing I dislike is some of the strong beams of blue light near the foreground. I think they are a bit distracting from the rest of the work.

Anyway, congratulations on a job well done. The hard work put into this seems to have been well worth it.
